Wisdom For The Day Devotional 15 June 2025 By Bishop Mike Okonkwo – A Father’s High Calling
TOPIC: A Father’s High Calling (TREM Devotional 15 June 2025)
“Fathers, do not provoke your children to anger, but bring them up in the discipline and instruction of the Lord.” – Ephesians 6:4
MESSAGE:
On this Father’s Day, we honor the critical role that fathers play in the lives of their families. Fathers are not only providers and protectors but also spiritual leaders, called to guide, nurture, and instruct their children in the ways of the Lord. This is no small task, and today, we acknowledge the great responsibility and privilege that comes with fatherhood.
Fathers, you are entrusted with a divine calling. God has placed you as the head of your household, and with this position comes the responsibility to lead by example, to walk in righteousness, and to instill a legacy of faith in your children. In Proverbs 22:6, the Word tells us: “Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old, he will not depart from it.” This is a promise, fathers, but it comes with an imperative: your involvement, your guidance, and your intentionality matter in shaping the hearts and minds of the next generation.
It’s easy to underestimate the impact you have. In a world that often sidelines the role of fathers, remember this: your influence is profound. When you lead in love, speak with wisdom, and live with integrity, you are shaping the destiny of your children. They are watching, listening, and learning from you, not just through what you say, but by how you live.
So, on this Father’s Day, we admonish you, fathers, to embrace your calling with courage and faith. Be the spiritual leader in your home. Teach your children the Word of God, pray with them, and model what it means to live a life of integrity and obedience to Christ. You have been given a sacred trust, and God is with you every step of the way.
Fathers, keep pressing forward in faith, for God has entrusted you with a mighty responsibility, and He will equip you to fulfill it. Happy Father’s Day!
