Our Text: Matt 2:22
“But when he heard that Archlelaus was reigning over Judea instead of his father he was afraid to go there. And being warned by God in the dream, he turned aside into the region of Galilee.”
Our Focus: Like Father Like Son
After the death of Herod, his son reign in his stead, that his Archlelaus. Now Archlelaus the son of Herod came in the vein of his father to rule in wickedness.He is such a horrible ruler like Herod his father.He was full of cruelty, ready to destroy as his father destroyed innocent lives. Joseph was afraid of him (as Herod his father) and diverted to the region of Galilee.
This proves that Archlelaus is just like his father Herod, the tyrant. This is a challenge to all fathers to be careful. Whatever you are is what you will produce. Herod was wicked, so he raised a wicked son.What kind of a person are you? This will determine the kind of children you will raise. If you are a horrible man, I am afraid your children will be horrible like you!
What you are is definitely what your children will be. A lion can never give birth to a goat, neither can a goat give birth to a dog. Every man will produce after his kind. Your kind of person will reveal the offspring you will produce.
If you want to have good children in life, then the process begins with you. What you are is what you will produce. If we want a better society, we need to be better first. A devilish father will produce devilish children, except by miracle will they be otherwise.
This morning, I want you to do ponder, what kind of children will I produce for the next generation? Ask God to help you live a wonderful live so you can produce wonderful children for the Lord. If you pray that, your children will be like you, are you able to boldly say Amen to that?
A successful father is the one that produced children like himself. Children that differs from their father do not carry his genes.
Prayer: Father, help me to be careful how I live so I can raise a better generation for you.
