Video: Yolanda Adams Talks About Her Imperfect Life & New Book “Ultimate Happiness”

In a recent interview with BET correspondent Torrence Glenn backstage at Bobby Jones Gospel, entrepreneur, singer, radio personality and author Yolanda Adams opened up about her imperfect life.

“If you look at me, you’re like, ‘She’s never had an [issue].’ Naw, c’mon now. Y’all know my stuff,” said Adams.

“Y’all know I’m on my third marriage,” she laughed.

Despite the chuckle, the multi-award winner’s rough past is no laughing matter.

Adams’ first marriage to ex-husband Troy Mason, in 1987, according to her, was violent.  He is said to have abused the “The Battle Is Not Yours” singer, causing her to exit a marriage she felt she should have never entered.

Adams got remarried in 1997 to former NFL player Timothy Crawford, Jr. The marriage ended in 2005.

While opening up, Adams made the point that no one escapes challenges. “But I’m just saying. It’s real. Life is real,” she added. “It happens to everybody.”

These days, however, Adams, who will soon release a new book, Ultimate Happiness, has found peace.

For others hoping to find it, her advice? “What you do is, you keep moving and if you keep moving, God is going to keep moving with you. Just don’t give up.”
