Pastors are being challenged to preach against sin as part of the solution to turning the country around in terms of moral standards.
American Pastors Network is issuing a clarion call to that effect, encouraging pastors to boldly preach the whole counsel of God.
Sam Rohrer, who heads the organization, says pastors hold the key to “raising biblical truth in the public square,” and leading congregations to understand that scripture speaks to “all areas of life.”
Otherwise there is no instruction.
Some churches are reluctant to preach sin for fear of losing members of the congregation, but Rohrer contends that lacks the full counsel of God.
The scripture speaks a great deal about not just the love of God, it talks about the justice of God,” he says. “And the justice of God is accompanied with both justice and mercy. Justice is God’s judgment that must be measured out against sin.”
Rohrer adds that when a pastor speaks the truth it is magnified in the hearts of those who hear it, but if he fails to speak people will feel comfortable in their sin.
