UK's Top Gospel Singers Record Charity Single

Forty-one of the UK's top Gospel and Inspirational male singers came together at the Dugdale Theatre in Enfield to form the Mighty Men Choir on Saturday, 21 February 2015, recording a charity single, 'Keep Fighting'.

MOBO award-winning gospel artiste, Lurine Cato, was the brainchild behind the project; she realised men were getting a lot of negative press, however, men who are role models were rarely highlighted. The choir is just the start of a year’s long project called ‘The Mighty Men Experience’ to address some of these issues.

The song ‘Keep Fighting’ is self-explanatory, its about not opting out when times get difficult, its about digging in and men standing strong together. “When you write a song and hear these singers taking it too another level, its a blessing. I can’t even believe what I am hearing right now!” says co-writer and producer, Ian Green. It turned out to be a great collaboration when Lurine Cato approached him with ideas for the track. He also produced the song with critically-acclaimed, Marcus Johnson. 

Green is not a stranger to success, he is known for his musical genius on The Matrix (3), as well as producing and arranging for Michael Jackson, J-Lo and Britany Spears to name a few.

The Mighty Men choir include; MOBO Award Winning Gospel Artistes Isaiah Raymond and Faithchild; Zalon, who was one of the late Amy Winehouse’s Backing Vocalists, who has launch as a solo artiste; Mark Beswick, award-winning singer songwriter, who previously worked with Take That and the Spice Girls; GT Award-Winner, Noel Robinson, recently signed to Integrity Music; Aaron Sokell, Emilie Sande’s backing vocalist; Tony Momrelle of RnB’s Incognito, Jermaine Riley from former hit group, Fundamental and now as part of duo, Dora Martin and award winning artistes, Leke and Dayo Bello.

In a matter of hours, International Choir Director, Solomon Facey, led the all-male choir from rehearsals to recording the final track. Andre Harriot of RnB group, Damage, passed through to show his support and also, ‘Time to Shine’ winner, Annastasia Baker. Sheldon Thomas from Gangsline gave a reality check of what young people are going though and inspired all the Mighty Men to mentor just one of them.

Immediately after the recording, the social networks, phones and email blew up with enquiries as to when the track would be released? “We are aiming for the spring, watch this space as we have more exciting news,” says Lurine Cato.
