Maximizing The Teenage Years ~ Pastor Faith Oyedepo

Topic: Maximizing The Teenage Years [Thursday March 12, 2015]

“Let no man despise thy youth; but be thou an example of the believers, in word, in conversation, in charity, in spirit, in faith, in purity.” 1 Timothy 4:12

The teenage years are a wonderful time of self discovery. This is the period when talents and capacity are discovered and developed. It is also when major characters are formed. When properly explored, a wonderful adult: filled with self worth, strength, and the fear of God, is largely developed in this time.

The benefits developed in the teenage years cut across the three dimensions of your life – spirit, soul and body. It takes an effective harnessing of these three dimensions to maximally enjoy the benefits of these years. I am sure you would have heard people make statements like, “if I were much younger, I would have done this”. That is because they realize that your strength, potentials, and great profitability are at their peak during this period.

Before you can effectively utilize this period of your life, you must be able to place your priorities properly. Your teenage years are the most effective time to be actively engaged in the pursuit and service of your Creator. The truth is, your relationship with God will reflect in your relationship with man. Don’t be a Christian who goes to church only on Sundays.

Be actively engaged with God.

Unusual strength is one of the characteristics of this prime time of life. Your strength seems to be at the peak. You become very adventurous. This explains why youth and teenagers are known for adventure and unusual strength. This strength should be used to pursue your God- given vision and purpose. You are not too little to start dreaming of a life of impact. At the end of the day, it’s your impact that determines the worth of your life.

My young friend, remember that you cannot be a teenager forever; it can only be for the present! What you do with your present will ultimately determine what you will find in your future. So, use this time wisely. Explore your potentials and acquire the needed skill, strength, and grace for the days ahead.
