Commitment In Marriage ~ Pastor Faith Oyedepo

Topic: Commitment In Marriage

“Through wisdom is an house builded; and by understanding it is established:” -Proverbs 24:3-

There was this couple that ended their marriage after 25 years. While many issues would have gone down the line, everything could be summed up to lack of commitment between both parties. Commitment is the backbone of any successful relationship, marriage and the family inclusive.

When commitment is lacking in the relationship between couples, the chances of that family’s survival is slim. Commitment here entails been willing to give your time, energy, finance, intellects and full support to the success of your marriage and family.

This involves the husband and wife in particular, putting all it takes to make things work in the marriage. The man should perform the role of loving his wife above material things, his career and money. The woman should in turn commit to submission. Most problems in the homes are usually caused by lack of commitment of both parties in performing their God-given roles.

Also, you should give voice to your commitment by backing it up with actions. As much as you say you love your spouse, you must also act the love you profess. You can do that through showing gratitude, addressing your spouse with respect, speaking highly of your spouse, exchanging gifts, even when you don’t have an occasion for it. You should also learn to communicate and seek better ways to build your relationship.

Though the above suggestions are not exclusive to this, but they are ways to boost your marriage relationship and prove that you are committed to making it work. Marriage is ordained to be beautiful, but it takes you practical work, prayers and commitment to make it so. Your marriage will not fail!

Remain Blessed!
