Olajide Philips the "Kabi Osi Baba" crooner, is set to unveil his debut album. He is a young man with a passion to impact young people everywhere he finds himself. The expression of his mission is to impact and rebuild broken walls in church music and lead young people in praising God with their talents in a generation of people where love of loud & empty lyric is order of the day. He does this, using his unique fusion of Neo-soul and Contemporary style of gospel music.
Some were born singing; others learn to sing, but Olajide Philips is different, he's born to sing. At age 8 he joined the children choir at Rccg Liberation Centre, ministering with them at different choir competitions 1998, 1999 & 2000 at Ifako, Isolo, Oshodi, Mafoluku amongst others, he later joined the church choir in Rccg New Life parish church in 2004 at Iyana Ipaja, after a veritable nurturing ground.
Few years later, he joined a five man gospel accapella band called Salvation Wonderful voices between 2004 & 2006. Music has been his passion all the way. In 2007, he was appointed as the praise team leader @ Rccg Solution Parish Awoyaya, Lagos and later as the parish music director at Rccg heaven on Earth parish Eleko. In 2009, God inspired him to start a Musical Concert called AMEN, an annual praise concert that holds on the 1st of October every year to commemorate Nigeria’s Independence Day.
Followed by the success of the concert, the arm of PFN Awoyaya chapter appointed him as the youth director; God wasn't through with him yet. In 2012, he emerged as the Area Music Director @ Rccg Canaan area. It wasn’t long before he gained a fair degree of good publicity through Amen Concert and PFN, invariably leading to his growth and meeting with much older established artistes like Mike Abdul, Funmi Praise, Kayode Olusoji, Wale Adenuga, Muyiwa Olarenwaju, Psalmos, Florocka, Gbenga Oke, Cutesaygay, Laolu Gbenjo, Pita amongst others and this has given him platform to be a blessing to some ministries and churches in Lagos.
BREAK OUT is a name God dropped in my spirit, when I was going through Pastor Jeol Osteen’s book. I had gone through a rough patch and I knew only God could help me BREAK OUT from all of them like: family ties, traditions, culture, proverbs, peer pressures, environment and the likes, so I decided to go before my maker naked, but not ashamed to help me break out from them. Olajide Philips can clearly be classified as “focused being” an epitome of determination, that believes in the unseen future. He's a certified Musician, CEO of AMEN Music, his voice, lyrics and music finds its way to the depth of one’s soul, encouraging and pulling you towards wanting to experience God more. He has 3 singles to his credit. He set to drop his debut solo album titled #BREAKOUT.
