Congrats to Reach Records recording artist Lecrae, whose new release Anomaly has debuted atop Billboard‘s Top 200 Chart. The project also tops the Gospel Albums Chart, Rap Albums Chart, Christian Albums Chart, and Christian & Gospel Albums Chart. Lecrae becomes the first gospel act to ever accomplish this feat and the first artist to top both the Gospel Albums Chart and the Top 200 Chart in the same week.
Anomaly comes out of the gate selling over 88,000 units in its first week, besting Lecrae’s career best of 72,000 units with his 2012 release Gravity. This also serves as the highest selling debut week for any Christian hip-hop artist.
This marks the third consecutive year that a Christian act has topped the Billboard Top 200 Charts. In 2012, tobyMac became the first Christian artist to do so in 15 years with his Eye On It release. That was followed in 2013 by Chris Tomlin‘s release Burning Lights.
The Atlanta native is preparing to celebrate this feat by releasing a brand new track titled “Non-Fiction” to his supporters not found on his Anomaly release. He’s also scheduled to be the special musical guest on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon on Thursday, Sept. 17 as he sits in with The Roots for the entire show. That broadcast airs on NBC at 11:30p ET/10:30p CT.
He’s also released the concept video for his newest single “All I Need Is You”.
